Analysis of the valuation strategy in the liver transplant market.
Challenge
Donor livers are currently discarded due to surgeons’ incorrect upward assessment of the degree of steatosis. This leads to financial losses and increased waiting lists.
Technology developed by large hospitals and universities makes it possible to define the degree of steatosis objectively and accurately using technology based on the evaluation of photographs of candidate livers. How to enter the market?
Solution
Working as a team with the researchers and the OTRIs, we carried out a market study to see the state of the art, competing technologies, pipeline, market access and scope of applicability of the technology.
We interviewed different stakeholders, from institutional decision-makers to healthcare specialists. We established the appropriate roadmap to bring the technology to market and quantified it.
We defined the most appropriate options to transfer the technology at the right time.
Result
- The market study was compiled in a document with qualitative and quantitative vision, pipeline, competitors, perception of key opinion leaders and relevant actors from the technology and the implementation in health systems.
- Definition of the roadmap and alternatives for technology transfer.
“We defined the most appropriate options to transfer the technology at the right time.”
