Business plan for 3D prosthetics
A marketing and feasibility plan for a new 3D printing system for customised prostheses.
Challenge
An entrepreneurial group has developed a system and software to manufacturing customised carbon fibre prostheses using 3D printing.
They have made pilot projects that were presented to groups of orthopaedic surgeons with good initial reception. They want to define the following steps to implement a commercial solution.
Solution
We verify the technical characteristics of the software, as well as the prostheses that are manufactured by 3D printing. We compare the product with others on the market, explicitly defining its differential value.
We defined the ideal business model, assessing different customer typologies, from mutual insurance companies to hospitals, orthopaedics and private trauma centres.
We proposed market access not initially contemplated by the client, advising an approach via various distribution channels and the identification of the key players in the value chain.
Result
- Valorisation of the initial idea and its adaptation to the sales channels and the associated vital players.
- The definition of a product is based on the market segment, value chain, and customer typology.
“We define the ideal business model, assessing different customer typologies”.
