Incorporation of new projects into the pipeline
Validation of the policy incorporating new R&D projects into a pharmaceutical company’s pipeline.
Challenge
An SME pharmaceutical company has completed preclinical R&D projects and wishes to incorporate new ones into its pipeline.
The R&D Director and his team have several proposals on the table, and they require external and objective validation to ensure that the choice of projects is carried out without personalities and with good prospects for a future return on investment.
Solution
Solution We understood the history of the company and its preclinical R&D department, emphasising those projects and therapeutic areas that were successful in the past.
I participated in several rounds of presentations of new opportunities by the scientific team, questioning technical and business development constraints.
Each project was scored according to the above criteria, defining a list of projects ordered according to their potential and aligned with the company’s particularities.
Result
- Ranking of the projects presented according to scientific criteria, business development and potential return on investment, and the idiosyncrasy of the company.
- Selection of the projects to be developed, considering potential synergies among them and balancing risk.
“Participated in different rounds of presentation of new opportunities by the scientific team.”
