Juan was formed as a chemist at the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS). His interest in science was always practical and focused on understanding the real-world applications of knowledge. He complemented his studies with a Master’s in Industrial Business Management and a Technical Engineering degree in Computer Systems, aiming to better interpret and transfer knowledge to the market.
From his early days working in R&D labs and industrial scale-up at Akzo Nobel or in a Solvay spin-off with UPC, Juan was involved in developments with industrial application. His first contact with entrepreneurship was in the United States, where he discovered a culture in which “everything is possible” if you have an idea and the right team to carry it forward. These experiences marked the beginning of a journey that would lead him to found Arvor and become deeply engaged in knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship.
As a founding partner of Arvor over 20 years ago—when the knowledge transfer system in Spain was still in its early stages—Juan has gone through various phases and learned alongside his clients, allowing him to adapt to the evolution and consolidation of innovation and knowledge transfer strategies in both the public and private sectors. He has worked with more than 150 clients, over 400 researchers, and more than 800 technologies.
Unlike many consultancies that focus solely on technology, Juan has always betted a people-centered approach. Supporting researchers and organizations, helping them reflect on their needs and the needs of their technologies, and guiding them to find their path are all part of his daily work, weaving together the canvas of knowledge transfer with them.
He believes the greatest value in his work is the continued trust of his clients, and seeing how ideas and teams grow and develop from conception to market. He envisions a more professionalized transfer system, where TTOs and researchers are well-equipped, recognized, and strategically guided. In the meantime, his role is clear: to act as a connector between science, the market, and the people behind every idea.
